To facilitate the popularisation of Small Savings Schemes by taking it to every household and securing investment from the public, the Directorate of Small Savings, Assam, as well as District Authorities appoint authorized agents. There are mainly two kinds of agencies — Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) and Standardized Agency System (SAS).

Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) is meant for women agents only who canvas and secured deposits under the 5-year Post Office Recurring Deposit Account.

Standardized Agency System (SAS) agents promote and secured investment under National Savings Certificate, Kishan Vikash Patra, Monthly Income Scheme and Time Deposit Account.
